Well FBF is nice...

... but this is pretty well just a piece of practice for you, I'd say, and not really anything worth taking great note of.

Sure the animation is FBF, which is great, more people should use FBF, but it's wobbly and it's really just a sequence of a few hundred frames of doodles flaoting about. I haven't got a problem with random animations with music and stuff, but this itself is so minimal and really just doesn't quality as anything but a mediocre-ly animated sketchbook.

My advice, clean some stuff up, give it some colour, give it some thought. Even something that is totally random should have some thought to it. Also, use the onion skin, and if you already are, pay closer attention to it and make sure you have things lined up properly. Also you don't need to continually re-draw EVERYTHING in your frame. That's the beauty of Flash, layers; take advantage of them. Even on a single character, why not try and break it up and you say only need to draw the head for some movement or whatnot.

That's my suggestion. Once you've done this, post more animation, and I'll have my eye out for it, and then I can offer guidance on actual principles of animating, such as timing.

thanks

Oh how I've missed you...

... every day in my mind i replay a fantastic animation of a white fellow yelling "why, satan, why" at the lord devil seated in a thrown. i waited, and waited for it, and it never came. great sadness ensued.

as for this, well gee, why it isn't rate 4.39083490859038 like half the garbage on here is, i'll never know. This deserves top 10. I love hobos, and it saddens me to see one endure such a fate, but i laugh because i know it's AWESOME. bleeding rules, especially from the eye, trust me on this one. k it sucks, but its cool to look at.

also, the music was soul raping. which is a great thing. it was absolutely perfect, just grand stuff. it fit perfectly and got on my every nerve!

finally, the art and animation. brilliance. the timings were so spot on, and the animation moved with grace. the art wasn't overly detailed, or with lots of shading, but it was pretty damn delicate, in that there were little pieces of things that could change drastically from frame to frame without a careful eye. and you kept it all in check.

Sherbalex, welcome to my favourite authors list.

Sherbalex responds:

woowwoowwowowo thanks man.
btw this might interest you.. :) http://download. yousendit.com/10BA34BD63CB641D i might finish/redo it someday!!
thanks very much for the input dude. enjoy the rest of the holiday season!

Brilliant!

A fantastic clock submission. These are so rare, so when we get em, it's a real treat! Lovely. BUT I MUST KNOW WHAT THE SONG IS!

ToadClock responds:

"Battle at Witch Creek" A beautiful piece that came to popular attention when it was featured in the classic PC game "Rise of Nations".

Glad you enjoyed it.

So you like McCracken, do you?

Anyway that was pretty good, but it was obvious you've enjoyed and drawn inspiration from the work of Craig McCracken. Anyway, nice stuff, a little short but you told the whole story, so who cares.

Pretty well animate and nice imagery/design, though I'd reccomend you clean it up a bit. There were specks of white and whatnot.

Keep at it, man.

Zorg-o responds:

yeah, Craig McCracken is one of my inspirations. The reason that it's so rough is because it had to be rushed if it were to be completed because i'm going out of town soon and couldn't of gotten it done if it weren't done by this weekend so yeah. Thanks a lot.

I hope to God this gets...

...front page. That places needs to have some quality on it. Boy, how I love Mouse on Mars. I didn't know anyone else was insane enough to listen to it, let alone make a badass flash set to it. This is truly fantastic. I do wish it was less tweeny, but I'll take what I can get.

Nice stuff, keep going. I've been a fan for ages, and then a bit longer.

HeRetiK responds:

Hooray, another Mouse on Mars fan! :)

I hope to God you were being sarcastic.

This was boring and not funny, so I voted 0, I'll get that out of the way. Maybe I'm no high intellect like yourself. Your IQ obviously has to be in the 180s or something, because I'm gifted and I'm not above stuff like Egoraptor, so you need to be really high I guess.

Anyway, you make Pheonix Wrong, which is funny, but requires even LESS skill than the Awesome movies, so I'm assuming there were nuggets of sarcasm hidden in your statement.

So yes, if you were serious, your either a complete genius who should compete against that Japanese guy on lost for world smartness supremecy, or you're a regular pissed off moron who can't take that he isn't smart enough to know what'll sell so he attacks the competetion like a 2nd grade school boy bitch.

Seriously, please tell me you were being sarcastic. PLEASE.

AshfordPride responds:

I HAVE A BRAIN THE SIZE OF A PLANET AND SKILLS LIKENED WITH JESUS HIMSELF.

Yeah, it was sarcasm. I love the awesome series. I'm just trollin', I guess.

This was a treat.

It's rare that we get to see experimental animation on NewGrounds with such vision. I really got into this one alot. The sounds, the glows, the collaging. It all turned out so pleasing I can't find a single thing wrong with it.

I just hope other people who might not get the message don't complain about it being confusing or something.

Fierras responds:

I was doubting about submiting emulation to newgrounds but all the positive responses washed them away. Tnx :)

Nice slick animation...

... It was quite smooth and the visuals were decent. However, I suggest you now spend your time focusing on your timings. They weren't that great. The motions all lacked any anticipation at all. Also work on your characters' centres of gravity and how their weight affects their movments!

I'm expecting good things from you in the future!

Also, maybe make it a little less obviously Naruto 'inspired'? Just a thought.

quaro responds:

thanks a lot for the tips!
I'll try hard to improve my next thing!

I'm with the SS here.

Sorry man, but this just doesn't do it for me. I checked out your user page, and your picture has, in very angry appearing text, the phrase, "Get a voice actor who doesn't suck." To me, this means we probably shouldn't be getting you.

All your characters sound like some lame guy in his early twenties making funny voices into a microphone. No matter what character it is, they all just sound like you goofing off. I'm afraid you are simply no Mel Blanc, Maurice LaMarche, Tom Kenny, Rino Romano... BLAH BLAH.

You also sound so incredibly over-the-top. Your characters all seem forced and unnatural. Perhaps it's time you begin to take a few classes in acting, and voice acting, because it's pretty obvious you're an amateur trying to do it all by yourself.

Maybe with the right training and some practice you could turn out of though.

On the up side I snickered once or twice, and the sound quality was quite crisp.

TomaMoto responds:

No, I'm not any of those people. They are my role models. It totally slipped my mind that newgrounds was an elite community where only celebrities should dare post their work. Look, this is something I do to have fun with my voice and quite frankly, jerks like you take all the fun out of it.

Try to appreciate things for what they are instead of going around acting all high and mighty like you're some authority on all aspects of entertainment.

Improve you volume consistency...

...This was actually pretty ace. I liked this alot. Great atmoshpere and a pretty novel concept. The designs and direction were really good. You're only massive downfall was that, with regardles to character animation, the volume consistency was garbage. Things just moved all over on the bodies. Noses grew and shrunk like nobodies business. It was ok at first, but it began to distract so. So really work on improving that.

All in all though, really good submission.

Dasneviano responds:

Yeah, I know... This usually happens with me, even when I'm using the onion skin feature. But I guess I'm geting better (you'll notice that if you watch my older animations).
Thanks a lot for reviewing and for the good score!
